Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG I didn't think mobile could pull off. You build a party of four, each with their own quirks and grudges, and the writing gives them enough personality that I started caring who I benched. Combat is turn-based but snappy, so it fits nicely into a bus ride. The settings menu is a small hero here. You can cap the frame rate to save battery, shrink the UI, and even turn off screen shake, which I did within about ten minutes. Longer sessions get warm but never scary, and the auto-save is reliable enough that I never lost progress. My one gripe is the early hours drag a bit before the story opens up. Push past that and there's a genuinely good branching narrative underneath.
